Five Minute Friday: Wonder

Today I am joining Lisa Jo-Baker and many others for Five Minute Friday. I will be writing for five minutes flat - no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking Today's word is : WONDER.

December is the perfect time of year to slow down and sit on wonder of the glorious king whose birth we are about to celebrate.

It's seems like and oxymoron to slow down this month but it can be done. Slowing your self to bask in the presence of a savior... that is the reason for the season.

Practice the wonder. Practice the awe he so rightly deserves.

Slowing down will take discipline and intentionality.

I will not put things off until the last minute. I will build margin into my day, week and month. I will worship while listening to the christmas melodies that play in my kitchen and in my car. I will deliberately practice the wonder of who he is and all he has done in my life continuing the thankfulness started just weeks before.

(This will be the last Five Minute Friday for 2012, it's taking the month of December off.)

I am so excited this to celebrate this year's advent season with my kids. This s something I have never done before. I have had all the best intentions but have never been prepared and am typically too frantic leading up to the 25th to think of anything other than survival.

Just this past weekend and friend and I each purchased a copy of the ebook  Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands.

It is a a fabulous book that includes 24 activities for young kids to do leading up to Christmas. My children are a little bit older than the target age range but the simpler the better, especially this time of year, Each day includes a scripture, the project and something to talk about. There is a master supply list at the beginning of the book and step by step instructions for each craft.

My friend will be coming over today so we can "shop" in my basement and gather all the supplies that we need. I confident we will be able to find most of what we need there.

I am so excited to begin this little project and helping my kids focus on the birth of their Savior this holiday season. I will keep you posted and let you know how it is going! Click here to visit Truth in the Tinsel.
