Memory Verse List 2013

Memory plan

In 2012 I made a list of SMART goals but unfortunately did not achieve all of them. One of the goals was to do weekly scripture memory with the kids.  I had a plan...I would pick a new verse each week, practice it with the kids in the morning at breakfast, and then my husband would follow up on the weekend to quiz the kids and see how they did. The grown ups were even going to join in the fun by memorizing them as well and then letting the kids quiz us.

I had a plan, but I didn't plan ahead.

Each Monday I would wake up wondering what verse should come next. I hoped I would stumble across one in my devotional time. Sometimes I did, sometimes I didn't. If hadn't chosen something by Tuesday there would be no memory verse for the week.

Despite being disappointed I put the same goal on this year's list.

This time I was going to plan ahead. My husband and I talked about it we agreed there were areas that we wanted our kids to grow. By intentionally sharing with then what the Bible says, for example, about loosing their temper, sharing, or being thankful, we'd hope they would be able to make better choices.

I made a list, every month a new topic, each week a new memory verse that applies to the topic.

As I introduce a new scripture to my kids I will also share them with you here on my blog. Check back each week or subscribe to get them in your e-mail.
