How You Can Embrace God’s Unique Mission for your Family

Have you ever thought, “Why doesn't my family look like hers?” Do you admire her house, her car, her incredibly talented children, or her husband’s high profile job? Are you tempted to wonder, “If I’d made different choices, would my life be better?”

It’s easy to look at the people we know and assume they have it all together. Or to envy another family’s path. But God has a unique purpose and mission for our family.

I am over at More to Be talking about how you can let go of discontent and regret and embrace God's unique mission for your family. Join me there to READ MORE!

Bearing God’s Image

Have you ever noticed, upon meeting a child for the first time, you can easily match up the “grown-up” they belong to? Sometimes they are the spitting image of their mom or dad, and other times it’s the similarity to their parent’s mannerisms, behavior, or even dress that gives them away.  Our family is no different.

I Choose to Believe - More to Be

I used to think that my value and worth by what I did (or didn’t do) for a living, how much I got done in a day, and how clean my house was. That lie made me feel less than and consequently affected the kind of woman, wife, and mother I was.

Head over to More to Be to read the story of how an experience with my oldest daughter and her swim team taught me to recognize the lies that held me back and counter them with the truth.

Living Out Our Identity in Christ

Back in December I taught my kids about their identity in Christ. It was shortly after that that my son and I happen to watch the Netflix series The Crown together. It's a show, set in England in the mid-1900s, that focuses on Queen Elizabeth II, England’s current monarch, in her early reign. We were immediately hooked and binged the whole first season.

It's a show, set in England in the mid-1900s, that focuses on Queen Elizabeth II, England’s current monarch, in her early reign. We were immediately hooked and binged the whole first season.

What struck me most about her story was that the choices she had to make from her position as the queen varied greatly from the choices she would have made simply as a women, wife, or sister. As I thought about this, it occurred to me that there are many times we'll have to make decisions from our position as a child of the King and ambassadors to our culture as well.

I am talking about it more over at More to Be. Join me there...

Recognizing and Embracing My Influence in the Everyday

A great talk from Anne F. Downs and friends like Elisa Pulliam have shown me I can sow into the lives of teens in the everyday mundane, outside of a structured program. God showed me that I was already doing when my heart longed to do.

I felt called at a young age to work with teens, although I have never actually done it. On and off throughout the years, I tried to get involved in various youth ministries, however, it never worked out. I couldn’t understand why; I thought for sure this was where I was meant to serve.

Then the busyness of life made it easy to let go of what I thought I was called to do. Plus, I thought that investing in the next generation meant I needed to be in ministry or have an official title.

Encouraging Your Teen To Grow in their Faith

It took years for me to learn that getting to know God isn’t hard or boring at all and spending time with Him doesn’t look the same for everyone. There is no one-way to do it. In fact, the way I spend time with God looks different in every season of my life.

When talking to my daughter about getting to know God, I ask her to consider how she became so close with her BBFs. Then I explained to her that it’s not very different from getting to know God.

Join me over at More to Be as I talk about how to encourage your teen to grow their faith.

The Positive Impacts of Long Distance Dating

My husband and I lived in different states when we met. While it was tough not to see each other as frequently as we would have liked, there were many advantages to dating long distance. One of them was how every step of our relationship was intentional. I am over at More to Be talking about it. I would love for you to join me there...
